 A place to go -

Empower victims of poverty, ABUSE & trauma from Hopelessness to Hopefulness from Victims to Victors!

About Us

Both founders were born and bred in Zimbabwe and have grown up in Australia. As we tell our story in 2018 we have both lived exactly half our lives in Zimbabwe and the other in Australia and so call both countries home.

The birth of JDE foundation came about then from each of our own personal traumatic experiences: from the loss of a father in Zimbabwe that led to the first hand experience of the issues of children in poverty especially the girl child prone to child marriage, to a marriage breakdown in Australia that resulted in the realisation of the struggles related to coercive control at a time when we could not articulate it as such as it was not widely recognised nor understood. We have learnt, grown, realised our calling and purpose in life.

Our greatest responsibility is to love others by making a better world through action from what we have learnt be it from our life experiences or our mothers, their legacy.

Our foundation and hearts are for

  • bettering the lives of children in poverty through education

  • supporting and empowering women from abusive relationships especially the emotional or psychological that is intangible and hard to relate to through care packages that include journals and books to cater for their wellbeing

About the foundation

JDE foundation aims to support and empower children of poverty as well as women of abuse and trauma to make a positive change. The foundation aims to be supplementary to current services to help with rebuilding of lives especially after trauma. The change is first and foremost within themselves then in turn to those in their world: family, friends, colleagues & the world at large so as to pass it forward.

JDE is Joan Dainah Elizabeth in honour of our mothers - Joan Marunda and in memory of the late Dainah Elizabeth Choga nee Patsanza. Thank you for the motherly teachings that you imparted to us as children that we realise on a deeper level now as women. We hope to impart to others in all generations and continue on even just a fraction of your legacies that you imprinted in our hearts. You are amazing women and we are honoured to be your children.

In the loving memory of Dainah Elizabeth who is no longer with us. Our family’s lady Di and queen. Your soul rests in peace and your legacy to all your children and husband was not in vain. It lives on now and for an eternity to come. We are forever blessed and covered by your faith. Thank you for banking your prayers for us.

In the loving memory of Morrison Marunda. Through your death, we were able to learn that you are not guaranteed a tomorrow, or another year, much less another fifty. We also got to learn of the need for education for the less fortunate. If you have a passion, follow your heart. May your soul continue to rest in peace.

When we think of JDE, this quote from Nelson Mandela resonates with us

There can be no greater gift than that of giving one’s time and energy to help others without expecting anything in return.

OUR VISION

LIBERATE & EMPOWER CHILDREN AND WOMEN WORLDWIDE

“Forget your own unhappiness by creating a little happiness for others…Because when you are good to others, you are best to yourself.
Just remember the things you do for yourself are gone when you are gone, but the things you do for others remain as your legacy.”
